Who we are
We are a specialist babysitting agency finding suitably experienced and qualified babysitters to look after autistic children, in South Manchester. The company has been set up by the two of us to help families regain some normality in their lives.
Tori Houghton is a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in Autism. She has worked with children with autism for the past 10 years and is currently working with school children in the North West.
Rick Schofield is a chartered accountant and tax advisor, however more importantly he is also the father of an autistic boy.
Why we are doing this
As a health professional and a parent we understand the strain that is placed on the parents of autistic children. No parent will ever leave their child with someone unless they are totally happy that the person will take care of them, and understand them, to the highest level of care. For parents of children with such complex communication and behaviour difficulties this is magnified. However without this respite, not just to have an evening off but to do the simple things in life like have a coffee with friends or just go for a walk, the stress can have an effect on the whole family.
Given the special requirements of autistic children it is very difficult to find a babysitter that you feel comfortable with, someone who understands them and has the experience of working with them. This is where Time Babysitting can introduce you to people who have already been reviewed and who have experience of and an interest in working with autistic children.
